The Crew



Michael Stringer was given a super 8mm camera when he was 12 years old and has made films ever since. He has an extensive background and wealth of expertise as a Producer, Director, DOP and Distributer. He has spent 30 years working in the film industry, starting out as a driver, spent 10 years as an assistant director on feature films and television before finding his passion in documentaries and independent distribution. In 1997 he Co-founded Second Nature Films Michael produced and distribution the award winning film Yogawoman. He is currently directing AUSSIE RULES the world being released by INDIEVILLAGE in July 2014.



After a successful career as an actor and theatre director Kate moved into film in 1997 directing A Year on the Wing, which launched the online documentary genre with the ABC. Kate wrote and directed A Hard Place an experimental film that was officially selected for 12 international film festivals. Kate was Co-Director/Writer and Producer on the award winning feature documentary Yogawoman. Kate has spent the last 4 years heading the Yogawoman online campaign and distributing the film internationally. Kate has received international acclaim and film awards for her work as Producer and Director.  Kate’s work has been reviewed in the New York Times, Variety, LA Times, Woman’s Day and has appeared on the television show The Circle. She is a writer for the Huffington Post and has contributed a chapter to a new USA book published this September ‘Yoga and Body Image’. Kate is currently producing AUSSIE RULES THE WORLD.



Rob Buttery is best known as a freelance video editor for a wide range of documentary and factual productions such as Mythbusters, Traveller's Guide to the Planets and Bondi Rescue. Rob's work has been seen globally by millions of viewers on the Discovery Channel, National Geographic, CNN, BBC, ITV and on every free to air broadcaster in Australia.



Locally produced Children’s drama and Documentaries have been a speciality for editor Wayne Hyett A.S.E. His career, spanning nearly 30 years, also includes Feature films, Adult drama series and Documentary dramas for all Australian Networks and International audiences.

Drama credits include The Castle, The Murray Whelan Series, Stingers, The Games, Wicked Science, The Elephant Princess and Pirate Island. His Documentary highlights include the major ABC series Captain Cook – Discovery and Obsession, The First Fagin, Australia on Trial, Kindness of Strangers, Yogawoman, Catching Cancer and the Emmy Award winning Immortal. He has also completed his first film for IMAX giant screen, Hidden Universe 3D. Having completed Series 1 of The Doctor Blake Mysteries in 2012, Wayne is finishing post production on the second series of this highly successful ABC drama.

In 2004 he was awarded accreditation by the Australian Screen Editors Guild “In recognition of excellence in screen editing and outstanding contribution to Australian screen culture”.


Editor Paul Murphy is an editor and motion graphics designer based in Sydney, Australia. He has worked on a wide range of projects, including films, broadcast, commercials, animation and stereoscopic 3D. He most recently edited 'Red Obsession' narrated by Russell Crowe, which screened at the Berlin, Tribeca and Sydney Film Festivals, and won the 2013 AACTA for Best Feature Documentary.



Jim Fish is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist who has scored a number of documentaries including Shellschocked (first screened ABC TV in 2000), Oops, Wrong Planet (2008, Beyond International) and What to do about Whales?. With his band the Coffee Protection Society, Jim has released three acclaimed albums. The Sydney Morning Herald said Jim's song What Else is there? was “the best Bacharach-style song Burt never wrote.” Published by Perfect Pitch, Jim has written songs for illustrious vocalists such as Dave Mason (the Reels), Brendan Gallagher (Karma County) and Virna Sanzone, and has co-written with Linda Janssen (Wicked Beat Sound System). Jim is the father of two boys and was recently married for the second time.


Production Manager Sara has spent the last 10 years in Film, Television, Marketing and Business Branding. Working with Second Nature Films, she distributed the feature film Yogawoman into 52 cinemas in Australia, New Zealand, Japan  and Canada. Sara also managed Premiere Screening Tours in cinemas in the USA, UK and Germany. The film had multiple sell out Premieres and Q+A events. Other projects she distributed include Circle Of LiesI Love This Place and now  AUSSIE RULES the world . She has assisted many filmmakers with identifying and building audience fan hubs and structuring distribution and marketing strategies that appeal directly to their targeted market. She has an outstanding knowledge of digital platforms and interactive behaviors; she has a depth of understanding unique to the Australian film industry. Her contacts with cinema owners and international distributors have been paramount to the success of her clients.

"I think the biggest thing at the moment, the AFL and the players association along with the football clubs are doing at the moment is really creating environments that are very welcoming to Aboriginal players. And we're seeing a lot of indigenous players that are getting drafted from anywhere in Australia which is fantastic and that's the way it should be."
